Socialization is the process of psychological and social development by which a person learns his or her culture (Healey, PPT). family is the first institution that teaches us about everything including which culture to respect and which to avoid or hate. Thankfully, I was brought up in my family with the thought that all is equal and everyone has the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. However, now when I have learned about modern racism, I realize that there were underlying racist thought against some minority group and in my case, it was American Muslims. Most part of my life I have grown up with an attitude that Muslim Americans bring terrorism with them even if they are not terrorist.
